Petros Panagos, DDS
Dr. Petros Panagos was born in Queens, New York and grew up in Bethpage, New York. He attended the highly selective seven-year accelerated program at New York University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 3 years, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After earning his D.D.S. degree, Dr. Panagos went on to complete an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, NY, regarded as one of the country’s top programs. There, he underwent vigorous training in dentoalveolar surgery, implant reconstruction, anesthesia, pediatric dental surgery, orthognathic surgery, treatment of head and neck pathology and trauma, and major facial reconstruction.
He has had the honor of presenting some of his work at the national meeting of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as being published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has partaken in many community outreach programs, including dental outreaches to the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Honduras. He has also been a part of “Healing the Children,” where he provided cleft lip and palate surgery for underprivileged children and adolescents in Bucaramanga, Colombia.
Currently, Dr. Panagos is an attending at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, where he is also involved in the education of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents as well as the General Practice residents.
With the backing of his tremendous experience, Dr. Petros Panagos has achieved the honor of becoming board-certified and being named a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He also is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the NYS Dental Association, and the Nassau County Dental Society. He is active in maintaining continuing education to stay on the cutting edge of his field, as well as keeping current in his Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support training. LI Pulse has recognized Dr. Panagos as a Top Dentist in the Long Island Area. In addition, Dr. Panagos is PALS certified.
He currently lives in Nassau County with his wife and three children. He has many interests outside of the office including sports, outdoor activities, and most importantly, enjoying time with his family.
